RWA 2020 and The Future

So this last weekend was the annual Romance Writers of America conference. I've never been able to attend in person, and this year would have been no exception.

Because of this virus, the conference was all digital, and it was everything I could have asked for. I learned so much, have new things to think about, and am motivated as hell! I wish I was actually writing right now because that's all I want to do. Instead, I am getting all my ducks in a row and doing little revisions here and there before I start writing book 2 in October.

Lately, I have been toying with the idea of what comes after the Love in Corsaw series. For a while, I was going to stick to Contemporary, but the more I think about it, the more I'm certain that will kill my mojo. I love a lot of different subgenres of romance, and the thought of sticking myself in a Contemporary box makes me ill.

So I'm not going to. Right now, I have it plotted out like this:

  1.  Contemporary

  2. Paranormal/Urban Fantasy

  3. Reverse Harem

  4. Fantasy

  5. Young Adult

And then repeat. Naturally, Reverse Harem and Young Adult can fall into any of the other three categories, so there will be some cross over.

With all that said, I've been thinking about what my next project might be. I'm toying with the idea of an Urban Fantasy two-season (eight episodes each) serial. They would be shorter books or novellas and would release within a week of each other. I've been really into CSI lately, and I think the series would follow some sort of crime investigation/stopping crew. I'm pretty excited about it, but it's a long way away, so who knows what will actually happen.

Anyway, that's my update for the week! Hope everything is going great for you and yours!
